Joshua is passionate about education and has been teaching for over 15 years. He has vast teaching experience at all levels, including primary and secondary school, university and conservatoire level. He was a peripatetic drum set teacher for Haringey Music Service from 2005-2015. He has taught Jazz drum set for Middlesex University as part of their Jazz BA Honours degree. He has lead workshops at Leeds College of Music and Bath Spa University. Former students have studied at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Middlesex University (Jazz BA Honors) and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.


Joshua began his own formal studies aged 7. He was a member of the Haringey Youth Orchestra and Haringey Youth Big Band, with whom he toured the Netherlands, South Africa and Spain. From 2001-2003 he studied jazz at CYM with Nikki Yeoh, and at WAC with Ian Carr and Tim Whitehead. In 2003, aged 17, he received a scholarship to study at Berklee College of Music, USA. He has also studied privately with Greg Hutchinson and Kenny Washington.
